How SOS works

For too long, communities have coordinated disaster response through a patchwork of conflicting digital tools — none designed for the work, the security of it, or for keeping local knowledge from one event to the next.

Not anymore

SOS is the first platform custom-designed for humanitarian response, at no cost to the user. It conforms technology to human instinct — identifying needs and resources, verifying information, surging altruism, building local knowledge banks, and establishing long-term recovery. Every action and decision logged in SOS proves impact and preserves that knowledge for the next event.

SOS connects existing relief efforts into a seamless humanitarian network, making response faster, more efficient, and more effective for everyone.

Common questions

How does SOS work?

SOS takes in signals (requests for help, available resources, and community reports), sorts and verifies them, proposes matches, and lets a person approve each action. Then it tracks the delivery through to the outcome and learns from it.

What's the difference between a verified and an unverified report?

A verified report has been confirmed by SOS or a trusted source. An unverified report is shared for situational awareness and hasn't been confirmed yet. SOS labels both clearly.

Does SOS decide on its own who gets help?

No. Nothing moves forward automatically. A person reviews every match, and only the recipient can confirm a delivery.

Can my organization use SOS?

Yes. Community groups, shelters, and response organizations can join through the Partner page at no cost.
